Lama Gursam Returns
So Lama Gursm returned for his second visit to Baltimore this year. I was going to say he's the only lama stupid enough or dedicated enough to visit Baltimore in August, but the weather was cool for August, actually quite pleasant. Lama gave two talks and did a refuge ceremony. The talks were at the Susquehanna Yoga Center, as most of them have been recently. They were well attended, given the small amount of publicity we did. Lama's talks are getting better. He always gives them extemporaneously, which makes them heart felt, but sometimes he hesitates or repeats himself. The first talk was on loving your enemy and the second was on buddha nature. I thought the talk on love was the better of the two. At least it made a strong impression on me. But I'll have them online soon, maybe next week, so you can decide for yourself. Every time I see Lama Gursam he's a stronger practitioner. He's a great inspiration to me, showing the real value of meditation practice. I first met him nine years ago and since then he's made great progress with his practice. Too bad that I haven't been able to make the same commitment to practice that he has. Lama Gursam said he will be returning to Baltimore in October. In the mean time he'll be doing a retreat in upstate New York.
Sunday was the annual Homeopathic Study Group picnic. It was a smaller group this year, but it's always good fun. Christina, on the local homeopathic vets showed up and kept the conversation going. It was also nice to see Karole and her husband, Jim. There's less than a month to the start of next year's meetings, when we talk about the much misunderstood topic of miasms.
